Overview
On November 20, 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order No. 11063, “Equal Opportunity in Housing.” In wake of the Executive Order and the subsequent push for comprehensive fair housing legislation in various states and at the federal level, a new legal field emerged. To address the need for comprehensive information about developments in fair housing and fair lending, a loose-leaf reporting publication named for Kennedy’s Executive Order was offered by Prentice Hall in cooperation with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Fair Housing-Fair Lending is the successor to Equal Opportunity in Housing, and was first published by Aspen Publishers from 1986 through 2006. It is known as THE definitive resource for fair housing and lending practitioners, as well as civil rights scholars, with over 100 law library subscribers.

Aspen Publishers discontinued publication when HUD withdrew its funding for Fair Housing-Fair Lending. In January 2008, Equitas Media obtained rights to resume the publication with a larger mission so that Fair Housing-Fair Lending may continue without regard to profit. Editor Carolyn Bayer, who began working with Aspen in 1997, remains at the helm of the publication.

Equitas Media is proud to renew this important resource for professionals in the housing and civil rights fields with its January 2008 Bulletin.
